FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Taranaki Family Law Referrals free?

Yes. Our service is completely free for clients. There is no cost to submit an enquiry, speak with us, or for referral to our network of family law professionals.

Do you provide legal advice?

No. We are not a law firm and cannot provide legal advice.

Our role is to understand your situation and hopefully connect you with a family law professional who may be able to assist.

Will you definitely find me a lawyer?

No, we cannot guarantee that a lawyer will accept every matter.

We will keep you informed throughout the process.

Why should I use TFLR instead of contacting law firms myself?

You are more than welcome to continue searching for a lawyer yourself.

Our offer is that instead of contacting multiple firms and explaining your story over and over, you tell us once and we will explore options on your behalf.

If you do find a lawyer on your own, simply let us know and we will remove you from our list.

How does the referral process work?

Simply complete our online enquiry form - https://forms.gle/SL8GoqhVwQS7nQfw8

We'll review your information and may contact you if we need to clarify any details. Next, we'll share your enquiry with our growing network of family law professionals to explore whether someone may be able to assist.

How long does the process take?

Every enquiry is different.

We'll review your situation as soon as practical and contact you promptly if further information is required. Timeframes for referral will depend on the nature of your matter and lawyer availability.

Is my information confidential?

Yes. Your enquiry will be anonymised before it is shared with our network. If a lawyer is interested in your matter, we may provide the information reasonably necessary for them to complete a conflict check and determine whether they are able to act for you, in accordance with the consent you provide during the referral process.

A conflict check is a standard professional requirement that ensures the lawyer has not previously acted for another person involved in your matter and can represent you independently.

If a lawyer is able to assist, we'll let you know and facilitate an introduction.

Do I need to live in Taranaki?

For now, yes.

Taranaki Family Law Referrals currently focuses on connecting clients with family law professionals within the Taranaki region.

Why isn't this service offered by the lawyers themselves?

Law firms have varied availability, expertise and client intake methods. Finding the right lawyer can mean contacting several firms before finding one that's able to help, and many firms are drowning in new enquiries.

Taranaki Family Law Referrals provides a single starting point. We review your enquiry once and explore suitable referral options through our growing network, helping simplify the process for people who don't know where to begin.

How does TFLR make money?

There is no cost to clients to use Taranaki Family Law Referrals.

When a lawyer accepts a client through our service, we charge that lawyer a referral fee. This enables us to keep the service free while continuing to grow our network and improve the referral process.
